Happy Easter Everyone!
What does Easter Sunday make you think of? Chicken sidecar races! Or at least chicks riding in egg-shell sidecars attached to a bunny. Or maybe...oh to hell with it, happy Easter.

The Funnies - A Time for All Things (1910)
The Century Illustrated Magazine, May 1910
Strikes me as a typical Monday. Only on a day as evil as Monday would the chickens conspire to wait until the farmer has planted all his seeds before eating them. In case you wondered, "Chanticleer" is French for "one who sings clearly", therefore I guess it's a good enough name for a rooster.
Robert L. Dickey was an illustrator of some note, born in Marshall, Michigan in 1861 he was most well known for his renderings of dogs, birds, and horses.

Carnation's Glory Gravy
Glorify gravy? Really? I'm trying to imagine the brainstorming session where the ad executives came up with this campaign. It's eleven o'clock and everyone's ticked because the boss demanded they sacrifice their Friday night for this "big client". Everyone's a little slap-happy and there's been a little too much hitting the wet bar when Jensen perks up and says "I've got it, glorify your gravy". Sold, everyone's out of there in twenty minutes and you've got the glory gravy campaign.
It's a little presumptuous to add "chicken" to the tagline. Maybe it's a sign of my modern sense of serving size but it looks a little like this chicken spent some time in a gulag. That's the skinniest drumstick I think I've ever seen.

Candy of the Day - Chick-O-Sticks
The Chick-O-Stick is one of those truly unique candies. I
mean what is it? Toffee? Wafer? Truth be told it’s a mutant combination of
peanut butter, sugar, and toasted coconut that kind of tastes like the crispy
center of a Butterfinger bar. Chick-O-Sticks have been made by the Lufkin, TX
based Atkinson Candy since 1954 and is based on two rival candy novelties: the
Chicken Bone and Turkey Leg and apparently Atkinson found the sweet spot,
because it’s outlived both.
