We’re used to seeing ribbons awarded to prize winners at
state fairs, but in 1852 contestants were recognized with diplomas. This one from
the archives of the Indiana Historical Society recognizes Michael Ingermann of
Hamilton County for “best plowing for a boy under 15 years of age”. Nice
furrows, young Mike!
